Big "D" Darnell Scott
Big D is a funny story in that I was having trouble keeping a bone
player due to cover bands paying the big dollars. As you can guess a good trombone,
that can read the charts, improvise, and kick it in every direction that we
do is hard to find. I was talking
about this to Eric one night and he said find a college student. So
I went online, and found Darnell. He had this web site where he talked
some …(stuff). He was in Bloomsburg college at the time. So I invited
him to come play with us.Now Darnell’s got 10 years of tuba under his belt and he was playing around Bloomsburg in a couple of bands on bone, our Conga player Gary said he was good.
He was pretty green, but he gets better and every time we hit. He’s had nice choices from the get go, but he’d lack the confidence in his choices I’d yell come on “D’ blow that #X*# thing. He has improved by leaps and bounds, he’s about pro, stay tuned and I hope he remembers D.C. & Co. as his career takes off! Email Bid D at
